The first time you hear THERA sing, you feel safe. Something warm and soothing flows from her voice and surrounds you like an ultra-soft weighted blanket. You don’t want to leave. Ever. So you listen. And you realize she sees you. She gets you. She’s been there, and she understands. You’ve found your musical person.

THERA is a warm and genuine soul who is becoming one of Central Europe’s most promising stars. Her breakthrough single, the honest and vulnerable “guardian angel,” is an overcast, sad girl song that has earned her over 1 million streams on Spotify. The track quietly pushed open the door, letting people see an artist caught in a beautifully intimate moment of reflection. Since then, THERA has let her intuition guide her, allowing her to stay true to her darker overtones while stepping into a more club-friendly vibe.
In 2025, THERA supported Eurovision winner Loreen on a sold‑out European tour. In just a couple of days, THERA will join global superstar Jason Derulo as the main support on the European leg of “The Last Dance World Tour.” Her first date will be January 29 at Glasgow’s OVO Arena.
Entertaining Options was lucky enough to catch up with THERA just days before the start of her arena tour, so we could ask about her music, her songwriting process, and her connection to her fans.
Could you give us a quick look at your early life? Where did you grow up? When did music enter your life? How important is music to your family?
I grew up in Prague, Czech Republic, and I have lived here all of my life. Music has truly been in my life since I was born, and I was constantly around it since then. Some of my earliest memories are singing my heart out in the car with my mum, or honestly singing with her on the daily. Our car sessions are basically DJ parties, and I wouldn’t trade them for the world. But that’s not all. My uncle is in a band, and growing up I always saw him as the rock star of the family. My cousin is taking a similar music road; she’s part of a band and plays the drums while singing. Honestly, I still don’t understand how she manages to do it all, but our love for music has really brought us together recently. And I think everyone in my family plays the piano, so music is literally everywhere in the household.
Have you ever pursued other forms of expression, like dancing or acting?
I did pursue acting briefly when I was younger; I played in a couple of small musicals. At some point, though, I realized I just wanted to focus on the singing aspect, rather than also acting.
Where did you gain the confidence to do this?
I would say it’s difficult to say where my confidence came from, as it is something that is constantly developing. I started writing originally for myself, and just wanted to sing and learn as much as I could. When I started releasing music, the thing that started giving me confidence was putting out music I felt proud of, and mainly that felt right to me. I continue to live by this even now, which is why I am happy and confident with the music I release.

What is a live show like for you? How do you feel before the show compared to when it starts?
My live shows are one of my favorite parts of what I get to do. The adrenaline rush from being on that stage, feeling the lights, and singing your heart out is so fulfilling for me. Before a show, there’s a combination of nerves and excitement. But the moment that first beat of the intro plays in my ears, it’s like a switch. Like I turn into this new person, who is filled with confidence and energy to give to the fans. During a show, I just have fun. All of my steps and lyrics are already in my head, but my mind is clear. It’s like I leave all the stress and worries I had in me, and just get to live in the moment. It’s honestly an indescribable feeling.
How involved are you in the songwriting and recording process?
I try to do as much as I can. I like to be very involved in the whole process of my music. I would never put out a song that wasn’t written by me or feel like me, since what would be the point?
How do you move from an idea to a finished song?
My process usually begins with me recording a couple of voice notes of an idea. Then I send it over to my producer Matěj Morávek, who genuinely, I feel, could read my mind at this point. We work together to create the feel/mood and sound of the demo version of the song, and then take it from there. [We] record the vocals, finish off the music, and then finalize it. I honestly feel so grateful to Matěj, as it’s been really easy to put exactly the emotion or feeling that I wanted in a song when we work on it together. He’s helped me work on my voice and find what type of sound and music I want to put out as well, so he deserves all the credit.
How has writing helped you?
Writing has helped me be able to go through some difficult parts in my life. It’s been a tool that has allowed me to kind of feel the things I needed to feel, and then be able to heal. I feel that that is what has connected with my fanbase. The honesty and being quite open about difficult situations that we all might have to go through. Just creating a safe space for people who may feel alone in the world, as that is what music is for me.
Your voice is warm and intoxicating. It doesn’t feel forced. It doesn’t feel like you are trying to be anyone but yourself. How did that happen in a world where everyone is copying the latest trend to stay trendy?
Well, firstly, thank you! I would say it just comes from me making music that I feel is right. I haven’t really questioned my voice or felt like changing what type of music I love to sing. I write when I get an idea, and everything else comes from that.

Do you prefer stripped or remixed? Why?
This is such a difficult question because it really depends! For getting ready for a show day or working out, I honestly love my two remixes of “deja vu” and “rewind.” However, acoustic versions win in my heart just because I love working on vocals. I love challenging myself and learning new things that I can do with my voice, and those new things really come out in the stripped-down versions.
Who are your idols and musical inspirations?
Musically speaking, my biggest idol and musical inspiration has been Madison Beer. I found her music back in 2020 when I was really struggling with my mental health, and her music really helped me. “Dear Society” and “Blue” were my songs that I had on repeat, and felt like really connected to. Actually, these two songs were what inspired me to try and write my own music and see what I could create.
Your career is on a beautiful path. Has anything changed inside of you to take you from “guardian angel” to now?
I wouldn’t say anything specific changed in me; I just wanted to explore a new music realm that I hadn’t tried before. This past year and a half has been a lot of me learning who I want to be as an artist, and what suits my voice the most. I would also say being on tour and learning how different songs make the fans feel has influenced my music making, and finding the right balance of sad and fun.
“Rewind” reminds me of first-album Jennifer Lopez. There’s an intensity and an energy of someone who is getting to show the world what she’s got inside. You’re produced, but the heart and soul are still there. It’s a very tricky thing to achieve, and I think you’ve managed it magnificently. Were you ever worried that you might lose your identity in the production or remixes?
Thank you so much!! With “rewind,” not at all. “Rewind” was actually one of the tracks that I was so sure of, since I had recorded the voice note, and we managed to finish it in the span of a week. This is what I mean by “if it feels right, don’t question it.” The track felt right, and it did what I wanted it to, and the fans love it. It’s honestly still one of my favourites I’ve written, and one of the most fun tracks for the stage.

How did you wind up as support for Jason Derulo?
Honestly, it’s all still a little unbelievable to me. I have dreamt of playing such venues since I was a little girl, and it all happening now is crazy. I landed the tour with truly just a lot of luck and an amazing live agent who has helped me get the opportunity.
What advice do you have for someone who is feeling lost?
It’s okay to have a bad day or feel like you don’t really know what to do. It’s all a part of the process of life, and those moments can and will turn into something beautiful. The most important thing is having something in your life that brings you happiness and joy, even if it’s short term. For me, it’s always been putting my headphones in and listening to music, or just singing along to a song.
Do you have a message for your fans?
I cannot wait to see you all so very soon on this upcoming tour with Jason Derulo, and I cannot wait for you all to see this new upcoming era of THERA.

What can we expect in this new era?
There’s a lot coming this year. I have been working very hard on what type of music I want to put out and mainly what message I want to give the fans. I am working on my second album, and I think there’s going to be a lot of things that fans don’t expect from me yet. I’m working on the balance of the sad pop girl side with the fun dance aspect. I genuinely cannot wait!
I just want to give my fans all the love I have for them back. I am so grateful for all of their support, and I want to show them how much it means to me.
How can fans follow and support you?
Fans can follow and support me by following my Instagram @thetheraofficial or my TikTok @theraofficial. I try my best to post on there as much as possible and tease upcoming projects! I also have a Discord chat for the angels (my fandom name) who want to be more connected with me and other fans. There’s over 100 of them on there, and it’s such a sweet platform. Did you know… THERA is short for therapy. “I love the meaning and message behind the name THERA and started putting out music in the hope someone would find comfort or their own form of therapy in the words I had written, so the name was really fitting.” — THERA
