Holiday traditions, such as opening presents, are important because they create fond memories focused on family, community, good cheer, and happiness. Those pleasant thoughts can release dopamine and oxytocin, which give you a little tease of euphoria. This Christmas, you don’t have to settle for just one exhilarating day of opening gifts. A Lindt Advent calendar delivers that wonderful holiday rush all month long.

Lindt is the name chosen by Chocoladefabriken Lindt & Sprüngli AG [Lindt & Sprüngli Chocolate Factories Ltd.] to represent its brand of world-famous premium chocolate products. The company began in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1845, when David Sprüngli-Schwarz worked with his son, Rudolf Sprüngli-Ammann, to manufacture Lindt’s first solid chocolate bar.

LINDOR, on the other hand, is the name for a specific line of chocolate truffles produced by Lindt. The word merges the company name (LIND) with the French word for gold (OR). The portmanteau signifies luxury. Anyone who has indulged in these blissfully silky chocolates that are encased in a delicate, edible shell can attest that it is a wonderfully apt name.

Fun fact: Lindt didn’t come up with its LINDOR Milk recipe until 1949, over 100 years after the company began. And it didn’t place its delectable treats in red wrappers (to resemble Christmas baubles) until 1969. Also, Lindt didn’t venture from its original recipe until 1984, when it added LINDOR Dark, a sinfully rich dark chocolate variation. LINDOR White joined the lineup in 1985, and LINDOR Hazelnut completed the iconic quartet in 1994.

For many, Christmas can be a little hectic. You want to honor the people who are close to you, but finding that perfect gift takes time and can add a little stress to the holidays.

At Entertaining Options, we received our Advent calendar in a lavish red case with a reflective gold logo and artwork. The case was considerately packaged in a cardboard shipping box filled with crumpled brown paper for protection and an ice pack to ensure the chocolate did not melt in transit. Upon opening the doors of the case, we found our Lindt Holiday Chocolate Teddy Bear Advent Calendar. It was sealed for freshness. The calendar had two activities on the back, along with nutrition information, ingredients, allergy warnings, and a list of the included treats. Admittedly, we were hesitant to open the first door because we didn’t want to ruin the artwork. However, we wanted to try the chocolate even more, so we punched through the cardboard with glee. Behind the door, there was a tiny pristine chocolate bar with an elegant texture that was rich in flavor. We were extremely satisfied with the entire Lindt experience, from receiving a product that was packaged with care to enjoying a wonderful candy that lived up to its reputation of being silken gold chocolate. If you have a chocolate lover on your list, or you just want to treat yourself, Lindt’s Advent calendars can be a wonderful, stress-reducing way to celebrate the gift-giving season.
