Sophie Morgan had an impressive early career that began when she was just a teen. However, after adopting a dark romantic persona filled with alt swagger, The artist evolved from a gentle soul to a beguiling chanteuse. This fresh and wonderfully intoxicating shade of noir glamour mixed with savvy wit and fearless vulnerability fascinated critics and crowds. As Luvcat — named after The Cure’s somewhat whimsical, burlesque-tinged single — Sophie released “Matador,” a tantalizing track that sizzled with confidence. Soon after, she was labeled an “artist to watch” and rewarded with a fast-growing global fanbase.
“Blushing” is Luvcat’s newest single, released just a few short days ago. It’s from her upcoming debut album Vicious Delicious, which is due out on October 31 via AWAL. The lyrics are laced with crisp imagery and saturated with emotional confessions. The bold honesty feels pulled from the diary of a love-struck teen, and the artist sings with a youthful hunger that adds a palpable sincerity to her intensifying desires.
“‘Blushing’ started off as a kind of flirtation, full of young lust and longing,” Luvcat explained. “I added the bridge very recently at the end of recording the album, and it became more of a reflection on the wild ride of the last year. Being in a band, falling in love with each other, quickly going from gigging in the pub in Liverpool to playing festivals in Tokyo. So now it feels like it’s really about the beauty and chaos of just being a girl. With a circus inside her.”

Circus is arguably an understatement as Luvcat has spent the summer on a frenzied ride filled with festival dates, including performances at Sziget, Lowlands, Musikfestwochen, Pukkelpop and Rock en Seine where she graced the same stages as icons, such as Chappel Roan and The Last Dinner Party. She just appeared at Reading and Leeds Festival, and in the coming months she’ll be touring through the UK, the EU, and the U.S. [All current dates listed below.]
Regarding her debut, Vicious Delicious, Luvcat stated, “Making this album happened accidentally. Amongst the madness of the last year, I decided I didn’t wanna f*ck around with EPs or mixtapes. I really wanted to make my first proper statement. And when I found out Halloween fell on a Friday, I knew we had to be fast to get it together. Its lipstick [is] a little smudged and its stockings are a little torn, but I am so proud of how we’ve captured this strange, magical story, and all the lovers and libertines I’ve met along the way. I think the record is old-school romance slightly off its hinges. A swinging pendulum between love and addiction, ecstasy and melancholy, eroticism and innocence, the deliciously vicious and the viciously delicious.”

Vicious Delicious will be available on October 31.
