With the recent confirmation that a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot is moving forward at Hulu, fans are dying to know… Who is coming back?! While we can confirm that Sarah Michelle Gellar will be returning as Buffy Summers and Ryan Kiera Armstrong will be the new slayer, most of the other casting details have been pretty, dare we say, hush.
However, we feel confident predicting that one reluctant, on-again, off-again member of the Scooby Gang won’t be returning. Eliza Dushku, the talented actress who played Faith Lehane, a troubled slayer who was a switch-hitter for good and evil, is pursuing a different path. She has found fulfillment in helping others get “five-by-five.”
On June 6, Eliza received a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lesley University in Cambridge. She plans to use her education, as well as the knowledge gained through her own healing journey, to help others recover from trauma, addiction, and other mental health issues.

“Graduating with my master’s degree (!!) feels like more than an achievement—it feels like a deep calling realized. True growth, energy, and passion—manifested,” she expressed on her Instagram page.
Nearly a decade ago, in 2017, the Boston native stepped away from acting to begin working toward a new career in mental health counseling. She married Peter Palandjian, the CEO of Intercontinental Real Estate Corporation and a former professional tennis player, on August 18, 2018. A year later, Eliza and Peter had their first son, Bourne. In 2021, the couple had Bodan, their second son. In her Instagram post, Eliza thanked her boys “for the little sacrifices made & love you gave, each day to honor and support this dream.” She also thanked her friends, colleagues, classmates, professors, teachers, and community for their encouragement and support.

Last year, Eliza talked in depth about her transformation from actor to activist and healer in an interview published in Boston Magazine. She told Contributing Editor Gretchen Voss, “I had the means to shift directions and choose a course in my life that focused on healing myself so that I could help heal others. I would be remiss if I didn’t now share the transformation and the peace and the passion that I have. This is just absolutely so clearly my real calling, my real purpose.”
Eliza concluded her June 2025 Instagram post with “Non sibi sed toti,” which translates to “not for themselves, but for all.” The sentiment is a reference to her dedication to helping others overcome trauma.
