Combining a joy-inducing vibe with a blissfully carefree melody, Shaggy, Sting, and Henry “Junjo” Lawes have joined talents to pay homage to the sound system culture that originated in Jamaica in the late 1940s and early 1950s. The highly influential phenomenon brought DJs and audio engineers together as one to play and produce music over a large sound reinforcement system at events and parties. The new single is called “Til A Mawn” (Ranch Entertainment/VP Records) and the serenely jubilant track reimagines Lawes’ “I’m Not Getting Crazy” riddim.

Sting and Shaggy will co-headline the Reggae Rise Up Music Festival on March 13 in St. Petersburg, Florida.

To reveal too much about the inspiration for this gentle masterpiece might frighten away some potential fans. Just give it a blind listen. Let the meaning come as a personal discovery rather than being told. Expect a catchy, nostalgic, thought-provoking track that is simultaneously light and deep, driven by a sweet melody saturated in sparkling guitar jangles. The full EP, Machine Living in Relief, drops on March 28, and for the next couple of months you can find the artist on an international tour in support of the EP.

Formed in Washington, D.C. in 2017, Piramid Scheme is an indie grit pop band that often juxtaposes its raw garage sound with velvet vocals and mesmerizing melodies. When band leader, Lisa Said, relocated to Portugal in 2020, she initially pursued a different side of her artistry. On April 25, however, she is releasing the latest band EP. The four-song release, Shockwave Syndrome was recorded in Lisbon and co-produced by Lisa Said and Brazilian producer Lucas Mirovski. The EP features a crisper production with solid grooves, but still leans heavily on the band’s roots, making it a beautiful sonic evolution. Artists include Portuguese and Brazilian performers as well as members from the earlier lineup.

After a decade, guitarist Billy Morrison and Ozzy Osbourne have reunited to make “Gods of Rock N Roll” the grandiose masterpiece it was always meant to be. The new version includes the talents of the 61-piece Budapest Scoring Orchestra and the John Burroughs High School choir, making the recording a 132-track epic power ballad.

In an interview with Kerrang!, Ozzy said, “Billy and I wrote ‘Gods of Rock N Roll’ together in a hotel room while I was touring in South America about 10 years ago. This re-recorded version of the song finally has all the bells and whistles.”
