How does that old quote go? If you give a child a cupcake, you keep them happy for about an hour. However, if you teach a child to bake, they will learn a rewarding activity that can keep them happy for a lifetime. While we might be paraphrasing a little, you get the idea. And if you are curious about how you can enrich your child’s life by embarking on a monthly treat-making adventure with them, you’ll want to learn about I’m The Chef Too!
What is I’m The Chef Too!?

I’m The Chef Too! Is a brightly colored, subscription-based culinary adventure that you can take with your child (or children) each and every month. The adventure kits are mailed directly to your home and include the following items:
- A recipe card: This colorful, illustrated card walks you through the steps you need to make your treat.
- Pre-measured dry ingredients: All the dry ingredients, from flour to sprinkles, arrive pre-measured and packaged in their own bag so you just open and add when needed.
- Specialty supplies: If there are any specialty supplies required, such as molds in the shape of brains, they are included.
- A list of common household ingredients: Sometimes, you might need to use ingredients that don’t ship easily and are perishable, such as eggs, milk, and butter. If any of these common items are required, you will find them on this list.
- An additional STEAM-themed project: This illustrated card features the instructions and the list of supplies that you need to take learning to the next level. For example, the Transformers EarthSpark adventure kit shows you how to build your own Cyber Sleeve that you can use for imaginative play.
The beauty of I’m The Chef Too! adventure kits is you get one each month, and for as long as you wish to subscribe, the kits will never repeat. Roughly, every 30 days, there’s a brand new treat to make and a STEAM-themed project to build. If you would like one of the previous kits, however, you can purchase it separately.
What kind of kits have there been in the past?
To get an idea of the type of educational treat-making adventures you can go on, we’ve listed a handful of our favorites. Remember, these are not part of the subscription program. These are kits you can buy on demand in addition to your subscription.
- Zombie Brain Bites: This kit lets you make four slimy, green chocolate brains that are infested with spiders. Come on, how can you say that doesn’t make you salivate?
- Frozen S’mores: With this kit, you can mix up some homemade ice cream and layer it with chocolate and graham crackers to make six delicious frozen s’mores treats. But that’s not all. You also get ingredients to top your s’mores off with a smiling marshmallow to make it even more fun.
- Pancake Pets: If breakfast is more your thing, how about some edible friends? This activity teaches you how to design and draw a cat, a dog, a bunny, and more to make colorful, 3D pancakes. Go ahead, play with your food. We won’t tell.
- Galaxy Donut Kit: The Galaxy Donut Kit is out of this world! You can make a half dozen cosmic goodies that look as spectacular as they taste. Once baked, you can decorate these treats in purples, pinks, and maybe even some colors you’ve never even seen before… at least on this planet.
- Erupting Volcano Cakes Kit: Take that science fair project to the next level and win your ribbon. Don’t just make a volcano that erupts, make one that you can eat. Yes, even the lava!
Don’t forget the collabs

If eating what you learn to fully digest the knowledge isn’t enough, I’m The Chef Too! has another level of fun. Collab kits! Besides making delicious treats and learning about STEAM principles, the collaboration kits feature pairings with other popular brands to elevate the fun to an even higher level.
The newest collaboration is with Hasbro. You can make Transformer EarthSpark Treat Pops, Peppa Pig Muddy Puddle Cookie Pies, My Little Pony Parfaits, and Candyland Candy Bars. Previous collaborations included Disney & Pixar’s Elemental Bustling City Bagels, Universal Home Entertainment’s Puss In Boots Last Wish Enchanted Candy Bars, Dreamworks’ Gabby’s Dollhouse Influencer Program Gabby’s Dollhouse Sprinkle Party, and more.

How do the subscription plans work?

I’m The Chef Too! has an extremely simple subscription process. Whenever you order, your subscription starts the next month. If you order on or after November 1 (but before December 1), for example, your first kit will arrive in December. All kits are shipped during the first week of the month. If you want an adventure kit right away, you can order one of the past kits. These ship out on demand but are not included in your subscription.
The company currently offers four plans. You can subscribe one month at a time, three months at a time, six months at a time, or for the full year. The benefit of locking in a subscription for a longer period is a reduced rate. The longer you commit, the more you save. Here are the rates at the time of this article:
- Monthly subscription: $36.95 per month
- Three-month subscription: $32.95 per month ($98.85 upfront)
- Six-month subscription: $30.95 per month ($185.70 upfront)
- 12-month subscription: $28.95 per month ($347.40 upfront)
If, at any time, you want to skip a month, pause your subscription, or cancel your subscription, you can visit the website, log into your account, and take the appropriate action.
